You know it’s time to start outsourcing when…

in Beginner, Fundamentals / 4 Comments

Outsourcing can be a dream come true when you do it right. Along with automation, it will drastically reduce your workload.

So how do you know when it’s time to start outsourcing?

There is no ‘right time’ to start outsourcing. It differs from one person to another. Most people prefer to do everything themselves for a while at first, and then start outsourcing once their websites are up and running.

If you’re considering hiring outsourced contractors, here are the signs that you might be ready.

You Spend Too Much Time on Mundane Tasks

Do you find yourself spending half your day or more doing routine tasks that somebody with a different skillset could do just as easily?

This is the main reason people start outsourcing. And it’s a good one…

You might need help maintaining your databases, posting content, submitting content, managing listings, managing spreadsheets, transcribing documents, handling emails, etc. All of these time-consuming tasks can be easily outsourced and there is plenty of affordable help available on sites like Elance, oDesk, and Freelancer.

You’ve Got Better Things to Do

It saves you money to handle daily tasks yourself – but it costs you time.

That’s really what’s happening when you outsource – you’re buying someone else’s time because you don’t have enough of it yourself. You have more important things you need to do, like monitor your stats and make decisions about your marketing campaigns.

If you spend all of your day submitting articles and building backlinks, this takes away from that time that could be much better spent in other areas.

The Money Is Starting To Roll In

Although some folks recommend that you start outsourcing immediately, it can cost you quite a bit of money.

For most people it’s much better to wait until you develop some cash flow and have a budget to work with.

If you’re strapped for cash, you’re really not in a position to outsource. Especially when you’re spending out of pocket, even a little money seems like a lot. However, when you’ve got a steady income and can carve out a small amount to hire help, it will be much easier to make the decision to outsource.

The Learning Curve Is Just Too Darn Steep

There are certain tasks you could outsource immediately. These are tasks that you don’t know how to do yourself and would take too much time to learn. For example, you may be an affiliate marketer who needs to build sites quickly. If you take the time to learn web design, you can pop these out on your own. But what if you don’t have the time it takes to learn right now? If it would slow you down too much to learn by yourself, hire someone else to do it.

The great news is that it’s incredibly easy to find outsourcers. There are lots of freelance sites where service providers are waiting for your job posting. On these sites, providers bid on jobs they like and you get to choose the right professional at the right price.

You’ve got help from all over the world at the click of a mouse, so use it!

This article can be applied to HR services as well. The HR department can outsource much of the daily tasks that can be so time consuming and they can receive assistance in the ever-changing world of HR compliance and employee benefits packages.

This article is helpful to companies who are consuming lots of time doing tasks when there is an easier, cheaper and more efficient way which is outsourcing. Outsourcing is the best option for companies conducting functions/processes which have a steep learning curve but are time-strapped. It would be more beneficial for them to outsource this to a service provider that is well-experienced and considered to be experts in that particular field.
